Because at the end of the day, someone’s school system has to be the best, why not ours?
Hello Fellow Warwick Residents,
As we all know, the challenges facing both our city and our schools are significant and each day the future of our country walks through the doors of our schools.
With that in mind, I'm running for re-election to the Warwick School Committee because I believe in public education and the vital role that public schools play in our community. My wife and I are products of public schools as are both of our families and, more importantly, our three children are products of our Warwick Schools.
As parents and taxpayers, we have a vested interest in ensuring that we continually improve the education offered by our schools, while at the same time looking out for those who ‘pay the freight’ – the taxpayers.
For too long we have lacked leadership from those we entrust to work together to improve our schools and because of this, our students have suffered and our results have not been as good as they ought to be. We need leaders who can (and will) work with, and talk with, each other regardless of what they may think of each other. We need an informed and involved public that takes a strong interest in what’s happening in our schools and our city. We need to be willing to hear all sides of the argument, weigh the facts, and make informed decisions that provide our students with as many opportunities as possible to become successful and productive citizens. Abraham Lincoln said that education is “…the most important subject which we as a people may be engaged in.” So, let’s get started! Because at the end of the day, someone’s school system has to be the best – why not ours?
I hope you join me in sharing these sentiments. Let me know, what you think matters! Contact me at david.testa@warwickschools.org or 401-626-1084.
Thank you,
David Testa
